JLL: Five shopping centers to open in Slovakia in H2

17 August 2015

Five new shopping centers are expected to open on the Slovak market in the second half of 2015, according to JLL, following low levels of new supply over the first six months of the year. Freshmarket will open in Bratislava in the former Ikea building on Tomášikova street, followed by an 8,000 sqm Sconto furniture department store in the Pharos commercial zone at the Bratislava airport this fall. City Arena, a 120-unit shopping center connected with a new football stadium, is set to open in Trnava before the end of August. The 22,000 sqm Forum in Poprad, which will replace Prior along the city’s pedestrian zone, will open in October, and Galeria Lučenec is also scheduled to add 11,000 sqm of shops, offices and entertainment to the market.

Slovakia has a total of 1.54 million sqm of modern retail space, according to JLL, with rents in Bratislava shopping centers ranging between €50 to €85/sqm/month. Rents at retail parks range from €8 to €15/sqm/month, while headlines for high-street units along Obchodná street in Bratislava start at €20 to €45/sqm/month.
