Cora intends to close its hypermarket at Galleria Arad on June 1. “We have received notification from Cora and will explore all legal options as the current existing lease was signed for a period of 10 years. At the same time, we are in various discussions with other operators such as hypermarkets and other retailers of any size, and Cora’s departure is not synonymous with a shutdown of Galleria Arad. There are always other options,” said Danny Bercovich, CEO of GTC Romania, which owns the shopping center.
Cora’s Arad hypermarket covers an area of 9,000 sqm. It was opened in October 2010.
Cora has 12 locations in Romania: four in Bucharest (Pantelimon, Pantelimon, Sun Plaza and Alexandria), two in Constanta and one in Cluj-Napoca, Baia Mare, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Arad, Ploiesti. Cora opened its first hypermarket in Romania in October 2003.
