Gov. Rick Scott and his four-member cabinet voted to approve a land sale for what’s envisioned as the largest mall in America in Miami-Dade County. The cabinet approved the sale of 82 acres of state land to Miami-Dade for $12.3 million. The county will then sell the land to the developer, Triple Five, for the same amount. Roughly half of the land is being leased by the county’s school board, but the board agreed to break its lease in exchange for $7 million from Triple Five and a $1 million fund for internships and academic programs. Dubbed the American Dream Miami, the project is expected to cost $4 billion and create 25,000 jobs.
