Intram Investments has sold the 54,000 square foot Universal Plaza shopping center to the Washington, D.C. based Coqui Development. The price was $21.5 million, which works out to $398 per square foot, making it the most expensive deal to go through in the last few years. Built in 1994, the center has high profile tenants like Walgreens, Golden Corral, Stabucks, and a Kobe Japanese Steak House. But the mall has other things going for it, like the close proximity of Universal Studios, a steady flow of tourists from the 12,233 hotel rooms and time share units, and another 22,000 apartments located within a three mile radius.
