Mátrai Erőmű plans to start construction of Hungary’s largest solar power plant. Construction of the 15 megawatt plant is scheduled to start this spring, with completion set for the end of 2015. The HUF 6.4bn investment will receive a development tax preference. Suppliers of the plant is a consortium of Hungarian companies including Wire-Vill, as well as Austria’s IBC Solar and Romania’s Energobit.
Mátrai Erőmű employs 2,100 people and had HUF 10.5bn profit in 2013 on revenues of HUF 95.6 bn. It is 50.9% owned by Germany’s RWE, 21.7% by German peer ENBW and by the Hungarian state-owned company MVM which holds 25.5% of the shares.
