Bad loans still rising in Hungary

The Budapest Business Journal reports that the problem Hungarian banks are experiencing with non-performing retail loans deepened to 0.6 percent to 19.4 percent in the end of the third quarter of 2014. Provisions made necessary by loan losses grew as well, by 0.4 percent to 12.8 percent between July and September, while the coverage rate for loans deemed endangered rose to 56.2 percent. In all, Hungarian banks have lent out fell HUF 10bn to HUF 6,416bn, having received 250.3bn in repayments and making HUF 5.6bn in write-offs. The Hungarian National Bank revealed that Hungarian bans made HUF 43bn in losses during the third quarter of the year.
