While its focus is currently on expanding and refurbishing existing space, Media Saturn is planning to open its 1,000th store in the first half of 2015. The electronics giant made the announcement this week at MAPIC in France this week. Joachim Roesges, the company’s COO, said growth would be based on an omni-channel strategy that supported sales across all channels.
“We still believe strongly in real estate, but this must be flexible to suit the space available for particular locations,” Roesges said. “We have developed and trialled a number of store concepts for different locations and we can now open everything from our full flagship through to local stores as small as 25-30,000 sqm.”
The company is now introducing new outlet concepts, including Saturn Connect and Media Market Mobile, which was tested in Poland; Media Market Department and Media Market City. Roesges said that the company will continue to target both Russia and Turkey as the key drivers for growth and consolidate its expansion on these markets.
