In the past, investors would only consider purchasing agricultural land that could easily be turned into construction plots. Now, an increasing number of investors are taking advantage of low asking prices, quickly buying up land that they can later sell for a profit. The average asking price for farmland in the Czech Republic is currently below CZK 20/sqm.
The investment fund Český fond půdy, led by Martin Burda, who previously headed Investiční společnost České spořitelny, has already acquired 5,000 ha of farmland in the Hradec Králové and Mladá Boleslav regions. Český půdní fond, led by Jiří Jaklín, is also buying land across the country. Investors believe prices for farmland in the Czech Republic will triple in the future, writes e15. Yields are foreseen between 5 to 12 percent.
