Poznań City Center reopens following roof collapse

28 April 2014

Three days after part of its roof collapsed, Poznań City Center is set to reopen today. No one was injured after a 300 sqm chunk fell off the shopping center on Friday night, according to Polish media reports. The incident is currently being investigated by the Provincial Inspector of Building Control. “The preliminary findings show that an invalid fire protection system may be the cause of the damage,” says Tomasz Buczkowski, deputy building inspector. He claims the firm system was leaking, which likely led to the collapse.

Completed this year, the Poznań City Centre changed hands last month. Europa Capital, TriGranit Development and the Polish State Railways (PKP) sold the property to Resolution Real Estate Fund IV and Prime European Shopping Centre Fund.
