Škoda Auto sold a record 247,200 cars in the first quarter of 2014, up 12.1-percent from the same period last year, thanks to a spike in its international sales. The Czech manufacturer sold 104,400 cars in Western Europe between January and March, 4,400 more cars than the company has ever sold in Q1, according to Škoda officials. The company sold 45,500 cars in March alone. Sales for Škoda’s new Octavia model jumped by 49 percent in Western Europe in March and by 47 percent in Central Europe. German sales, meanwhile, were up by 10.8 percent in March and 3.8 percent in Eastern Europe.
