27 March 2014

There’s 40 new shopping centers currently underway across Poland, according to a recent survey from the Polish Shopping Centres Council (PERCH).

“We saw 23 new shopping centers going up on the Polish market last year, including in both regional and smaller-sized cities,” said Radosław Knap of PERCH, adding that 2014 will likely see a similar number of new retail projects. “Developers will likely target cities with less than 100,000 residents this year for new projects, while continuing to modernize existing projects located in mid-sized cities.”

At the end of 2013, there were 416 retail centers, totaling 9.84 million sqm of GLA, operating within the country, according to the PERCH report. Warsaw is Poland’s top retail market, with 1.4 million sqm of GLA, representing 15 percent of the country’s total supply. The capital is followed by Katowice with 1.1 million sqm of GLA.
