Hornbach will open a new location in the Čestlice shopping zone in Prague on March 19. The store will be located near the recently completed Exit 8 along the D1 motorway connecting Prague to Brno. The retailer developed the 20,000 sqm store with 537 parking spots on a plot it bought in Čestlice last fall in a transaction brokered by Cushman & Wakefield. Jiří Kristek, head of Cushman & Wakefield’s retail warehouse team, says that the warehouse and wholesale zones on the outskirts of Prague are changing into retail destinations. “This is a new trend,” he says. “The prices of land around Prague are growing, with the city expansion and industrial zones being pushed further away from Prague.”
