Foreign investors zero in on EU stock markets

21 February 2014

Global investors have started focusing on European stocks again, according to a FTSE Global Markets report conducted by BofA Merrill Lynch. The survey shows that more than 40 percent of the global investors polled by BofA ranked European stocks as a top investment target for the next 12 months. European stocks topped the list for the sixth consecutive month. The last time European bourses garnered this kind of attention was in 2002.

“Investors are expecting to see a boom on most mature share markets this year, especially in Europe,” says John Bilton of BofA Merrill Lynch. He advises, however, a degree of caution, stressing that market sentiments have already pushed share prices up, and it’s unlikely they will go much higher.
