Mega Image, which has around 200 supermarkets in its regional network, started construction on a new retail project in Bucharest’s Piata Sudului area.
The 14,000 project will include a Mega Image supermarket, as well as a shopping gallery, office space and an underground parking garage. The project is going up on a 5,200 sqm plot near Sun Plaza Mall. The land was bought from the Tanasoiu family, which developed the S-Park business park.
Media reports estimate project costs will exceed €10m. The Mega Image project will compete directly with Sun Plaza Mall, developed by S Immo, and will include retailers like Cora, Inditex, C&A and H&M.
