A new 9,700 sqm Carrefour hypermarket is scheduled to open in Bucharest in the third quarter of 2013.
In addition to the hypermarket, the project, which will go up on the former Vulcan factory site, will include about 3,000 sqm of retail space, a 500 sqm “drive-in” restaurant and approximately 1,000 parking spaces.
Carrefour is developing the project in cooperation with the South African investment fund NEPI. The two companies have also developed Ploiesti Shopping City, which will open Nov. 15.
Carrefour’s Romanian network currently includes 24 hypermarkets, 59 supermarkets and eight mini markets.
