Heitman is seeking to expand its Polish retail portfolio with the acquisition of up to two shopping centers in the cities of Opole and Dąbrowa Górnicza, according to the daily Puls Biznesu. Heitman wants to buy the Pogoria and Karolinka malls operating in those cities and has taken its request to the Polish antimonopoly regulator, KNF. The properties, managed by MGPA, were put on sale last year. According to Puls Biznesu, the previous bidder, the fund GLL, failed to reach the agreement with the seller. MGPA had purchased the properties from Mayland in 2008 for €187m.
The Luxembourg-based Heitman European Property Partners has been one of the most active property funds in Poland this year. It acquired Galeria Tarnovia, Marynarska Business Point and a retail project in Jelenia Góra. It also took over TK Development for €95m.
