Emperia to grow its Stokrotka chain in Poland

The retailer Emperia’s will be selling off a large chunk of its assets in an effort to raise funds with which to grow its Stokrotka grocery store chain. It’s a step in the company’s new strategic plan announced by its vice president Dariusz Kalinowski through which Emperia plans to expand on the Polish market. Emperia already operates 190 Stokrotka across Poland and had recently bought land on which it planned to build a further 20 stores.
It’s unclear at this point whether it will focus now on acquisitions to the exclusion of development, but negotiations on the purchase of existing stores do appear to be underway. “We see the potential for growth through the acquisitions of some smaller chains,” says Kalinowski.
