Anchor Group announced it will invest about €50m to renovate and expand Bucuresti Mall and Plaza Romania. Work on Plaza Romania will begin next spring followed by Bucuresti Mall a few months later, said Ali Ergun Ergen, CEO of Anchor Group.
The modernization and expansion work will take place in several phases and and will last between 18 and 24 months. The leased areas of both malls will be widened by 20 percent.
A three-level indoor entertainment park of up to 8,000 sqm will go up in Plaza Romania, while work on Bucuresti Mall will focus on green spaces, terraces and relaxation areas.
Both shopping centers will remain open during the work. Bucuresti Mall was opened in 1999, while Plaza Romania opened in 2004.
