German retailer chain Metro Cash & Carry has grown its retail network run under franchises to 300 stores, and has another 250 units under development.
Half of the 300 stores, opened under the name “La Doi Pasi”, are in rural areas, said Adina Tîmplaru, head of corporate communications at Metro.
It’s an area that other modern retailers have not yet entered, save for rather timid attempts by companies like Mega Image and Profi, but they are only at the beginning.
