Metro Properties introduces BREEAM policy to Polish assets

30 July 2012

In an effort to increase the value of its assets, Metro Properties plans to apply a BREEAM policy to the 11 facilities it manages across Poland. The company already applied for the BREEAM in-Use certificates, which is being granted for an existing, green-friendly malls.
“We expect to receive all the certificates this September,” said Elżbieta Urbańczyk, head of the facility management department at Metro Properties. The company is especially keen on obtaining “excellent” rating levels from the environmental group for some of its shopping malls. Currently, the highest rating any shopping mall in Poland has ever received has been “very good”. “So far, we’re pleased with the results, though we have also had difficult time. The best examples of this are the difficulties we’re now facing with the British requirements of BREEAM, that are not easy to apply to Polish reality and law,” said Urbańczyk.
