Tesco wants to spend PLN 850m on the expansion of its network of stores across Poland with 51 new locations planned to open in 2013. “We opened over 50 new stores last year and we expect to repeat the result this year,” says Ryszard Tomaszewski, the CEO of Tesco Polska. “There are four large hypermarkets planned to be refurbished, with 60 smallers stores also to be renewed. We also want to continue working on reducing energy consumption in our stores. We’ll be opening new stores, mostly medium-sized stores, and expect to reach the number of the openings we achieved last year,” he adds.
