In an efforts to diversify its activity on Poland’s property market, the office specialist Ghelamco is trying its hand in the retail sector. It’s taking a cautious approach, however, focusing on a trio of smaller, strip mall projects of less than 15,000 sqm. So far, Ghelamco hasn’t formally purchased any of the three plots it plans to build on, however it’s likely to purchase the land it’s identified in Łomianki, a small town with just 16,519 residents.
“Łomianki is a naturally attractive location, with its affluent group of residents that according to our research don’t have a lot of time. They are the potential target,” says Jarosław Zagórski, Commercial & Business Development Director at Ghelamco. “These type of larger city satellite locations are very interesting, as are the larger city districts,” he adds.
Ghelamco wants to invite local businesses to fill its strip-mall, though none of the potential tenants are yet known at this stage. The zoning plan approval process is ongoing for the 4ha plot, though Ghelamco hasn’t released any details as of yet.
