Unions to protest against cut jobs in Tesco

12 June 2012

Representatives of five unions gathered in Krakow in front of the local Tesco store to protest against the huge jobs cuts the retailer announced a few weeks ago. “The reduction of employment is nearing the end. It’s true Tesco has spoken with us about the cuts, though the talks were a sham,” says Elżbieta Jakubowska, the president of NSZZ Solidarność union in Tesco. Along with Poland’s biggest union, members of NSZZ Solidarność 80, OPZZ Konfederacja Pracy, Związek Zawodowy Pracowników Handlu and WZZ Sierpień 80 are also to attend the rally in Kraków to protest the firing of 980 jobs in Poland.
