The Kotva department store in downtown Prague center will be adding office space. Its Irish owner Markland plans to rebuild the two top floors of the structure in order to offer 3,000 sqm of office space, and has already secured building permit to do so. According to e15.cz, which broke the story, the restaurant, currently located on the fifth floor is not attracting much business. Markland has already kicked off leasing for the space, offering modern office space, an entrance separate from the department store, and roof terraces. Kotva seems to be failing in its struggle to compete with the Palladium shopping mall, just across the street. E15 writes that a refurbishment worth hundreds millions of crowns in 2008-10 has not helped raise the footfall.
