Billa has invested € 0.5m in revamping of a store in Bucharest

23 February 2012

Billa Romania has completed the refurbishing and redesign process of its store located in the Drumul Taberei neighborhood of Bucharest. The re-design increases the store’s sales area for fresh produce by 70 percent, while a delicatessen area was also added. The renovation, which makes it possible for Billa to add 1,000 new products to its offering, cost it €500,000.
Along with layout changes, there have been aesthetic improvements as well: the light is now warmer, while the old shelving has been replaced with more attractive sets made from a material that mimics walnut, designed to make items places lower down more visible.
Finance Ministry data puts the company’s turnover for 2011 in Romania at RON 1.14bn (€270m), a decline of RON 80m y-o-y. Part of German Rewe Group, Billa has been present in Romania since 1999. Currently, Billa operates 61 stores in major cities in Romania.
