Last year, Chopin Airport’s performance significantly exceeded forecasts, which assumed that the number of passengers checked in would slightly exceed 15 million. In fact, the capital’s airport handled exactly 18,499,527 travellers. Traffic compared to the record year so far in 2019 has recovered by 98%. July turned out to be the best month in terms of the number of people checked in (1,935,714) and February the weakest (1,119,953),” the airport reported.
In 2023, Chopin Airport recorded its highest ever number of passengers checked in for charter flights, with a total of 2.6 million. The Non Schengen Zone was chosen by more than 7 million passengers and the Schengen Area by more than 11.4 million, it was also reported.
The tonnage of cargo handled at Chopin Airport also turned out to be a record last year. Nearly 103.6 thousand tonnes of cargo were checked in during the 12 months, which is about 6% more than in 2019, when cargo weight was less than 97.8 thousand tonnes.
Also among the records is the result of passengers checked in on 11 August. 67,968 people passed through the terminal in 24 hours, the most in the port’s history, it added.
