Carrefour, Europe’s largest retailer, reported weaker-than-expected sales growth in the third quarter of 2023 as food prices fell and consumers decided to keep spending low.
Sales stood at EUR 23.63 billion in the third quarter of 2023, while analysts had expected EUR 24.22 billion, and at stores open for more than a year sales rose 9 percent, a slowdown from the 10.3 percent advance in the previous three months, but Carrefour maintained its financial targets.
Carrefour has stores in Spain, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Argentina, France and Brazil.
