The town of Moravská Třebová in Svitava region will have the old and abandoned city market demolished, the demolition company will start removing it in July. There will be a temporary parking lot on the vacated site, the town hall announced.
“The city market has been abandoned for more than ten years and creates an unsightly barrier at the entrance to the historically valuable city conservation area. All buildings are in poor technical condition for a long time and any reconstruction for economic reasons is out of the question,” said mayor Miloš Mička (Změn pro Třebová) .
The construction company is expected to complete the work in September. The city will pay CZK 2.1 million excluding VAT for the removal of the market. “For the time being, we will use the newly created area as a parking area for parking vehicles. Further negotiations will take place on the definitive form of the entire area,” said the mayor
The building of the city market consists of three buildings, which are connected to each other. The main building of the market is parallel to Komenského street and on the eastern side it is connected to the former sales and storage areas. All buildings are abandoned and serve only for temporary storage of city furniture.
