Tauron Zielona Energia is looking for land to lease for renewable energy projects.

Tauron Zielona Energia, a subsidiary of Tauron Polska Energia, plans to start the construction of renewable energy sources (RES) this year with a total capacity of approx. 300 MW, President Wojciech Więcławek informed ISBnews. The company also plans to complete three renewable energy projects and acquire 500-1,000 ha of land for new projects.

“We are finishing the preparation process to start the construction of approx. 300 MW of renewable energy sources this year. We are, however, finalizing three construction projects – one solar farm and two wind farms, also this year,” said Tauron Zielona Energia President Wojciech Więcławek

The president explained that these small projects were to “pave the way” in the Tauron Group – to show where the potential weak points and bottlenecks are.

“Out of the planned new 300 MW, 80% of construction projects will be wind farms, besides, one or a maximum of two solar farms are planned. This is liquid, because these are projects that are still fighting for the status of ready for construction. Today our portfolio includes approx. 50-60 open projects, they rotate depending on local conditions – so today it makes no sense to give specific names,” Więcławek added.

The company is also looking for land to lease for renewable energy projects.

“This year, I would be pleased if we could acquire between 500 and 1,000 ha of land on which it would be possible to locate wind farms and solar farms in the future,” said the president.

Earlier this week, Tauron announced that it had established a new subsidiary Tauron Zielona Energia, which is responsible for the preparation of renewable energy investments, project acquisitions, and will also conduct investment supervision over solar farms and onshore wind farms.

Tauron Polska Energia is a holding company in the capital group that deals with coal mining, production, distribution and sale of electricity and heat. The Tauron Group covers 18% of the country’s territory and is the largest energy distributor in Poland and one of the largest economic entities in the country. The group includes, among others Tauron Wydobycie, Tauron Wytwarzanie, Tauron Ekoenergia, Tauron Ciepło, Tauron Dystrybucja, Tauron Sprzedaż and Tauron Customer Service.
