Electricity bills in malls and offices owned by Iulius have doubled

9 February 2022

The electricity bill doubled in December 2021 compared to December 2020, according to developer Iulius, which operates a portfolio of 13 office buildings with an area of 152,000 sqm and 300,000 sqm of commercial space in the mixed projects Palas Iasi and Iulius Town Timisoara, to which is added the Iulius mall network in Iași, Cluj-Napoca and Suceava.

The building that consumes the most current in the developer’s portfolio is the mall in Timisoara.

“Iulius Mall Timișoara, part of the mixed-use Iulius Town ensemble, is the largest consumer in our portfolio, being at the same time the largest, with an area of 102,000 sqm of retail. The average monthly consumption for Iulius Mall Timișoara exceeds 2,000 MWh,” said the company. At an average consumption of 150 kwh for an apartment, the mall currently consumes as many as 13,000 apartments.

Rising energy costs are supported by tenants. “The increase is felt proportionally in the service charge of each tenant, depending on the individual consumption recorded. Our role is to obtain a cost that is as advantageous as possible, through very well negotiated contracts with suppliers, depending on the competitive criteria that define our portfolio,” the company Iulius transmitted.
