After two years of negotiations, Prague 3 has signed an agreement with the Viktoria Zizkov football club to lease a stadium in Seifertova Street for a symbolic crown a year. City Hall spokeswoman Zuzana Křížková announced. At the same time, the club will have a pre-emptive right in case the city district decides to sell the sports ground for the duration of the lease. The former owner Viktorie Martin Louda originally wanted to buy the stadium, after the failure it sold the club last year.
According to the contract, the town hall must invest CZK 25 million in the stadium by the end of this year, the contract is also conditional on the club remaining in the professional competition until the level of the third league. “The conditions that were agreed upon during the negotiations on the new lease agreement are, in my opinion, advantageous both for the city district, which will not have to take care of the stadium in the future, and for the club, which has the security of its facilities,” said the deputy mayor. Prague 3 Jan Materna (TOP 09).
“So far we have lived from year to year. The new long-term lease gives the club security and by signing it we have gained a real home. Our motto is “One quarter, one club, one heart” and I am very glad that it was fulfilled,” he commented. agreement co-owner of FK Viktoria Žižkov Milan Richter.
Last year, the club almost did not receive a second-league license due to the poor condition of the stadium, but in the end the Czech Football Association granted it.
The club was bought last January by a businessman in development and information technology Louda, who tried to negotiate the purchase of the stadium with the town hall. He justified this by saying that he wanted to repair it and build a new modern sports ground in its place. The management of Prague 3 refused the sale because, according to him, Louda did not provide sufficient guarantees that the stadium and the land on which it is located will be permanently used for sports. After unsuccessful negotiations, Louda sold the club’s shares to the club’s chairman Richter and board member Jiří Rýv last year.
The agreed agreement at the meeting of the Prague 3 City Council was criticized by some opposition representatives. Tomáš Sunegha (KDU-ČSL) stated that he did not like the incorporation of the pre-emption right, which according to him usually leads to the sale of property. “It limits the use of property, it is a contract other than purely tenancy, and it pretends to be a tenancy,” he said. In response, City Hall officials said the pre-emption right was purely for the club to be sure that one of the other political representations would not sell the stadium to anyone else.
