Ovostar Union increased egg production by 1% y / y to 1,691 million eggs in 2021, the company said. The volume of shell eggs sold increased by 8% y / y to 1,150 million pieces.
The export volume of eggs amounted to 264 million pieces, which accounts for 23% of total sales in this segment (2020: 349 million pieces, or 33%), the company announced. As at December 31, 2021, the company’s total herd was 8.4 million, compared to 7.9 million a year earlier. The flock of laying hens increased to 7 million heads against 6.6 million heads in 2021.
The average unit selling price of eggs increased by 16% y / y and amounted to 0.069 USD / egg.
The volume of processed eggs amounted to 501 million eggs in 2021 and was 15% lower y / y. The production volume of dry egg products decreased by 15% y / y and amounted to 2,699 tons. The production of liquid egg products decreased by 8% yoy to 14,136 tons.
The volume of dry egg products sold decreased by 1% and amounted to 3,237 tonnes, of which 2,064 tonnes, or 64%, were exported. The sales volume of liquid egg products decreased by 5% y / y and amounted to 14,391 tons, of which 4,098 tons or 64% were exported, of which 4,098 tons or 28% were exported, also indicated.
The average price of dry egg products increased by 17% y / y to USD 4.81 / kg; the average price of liquid egg products increased by 20% y / y to USD 1.55 / kg.
“The year 2021 was marked by many challenges for the egg industry, in particular, the steady increase in the prices of compound feed and energy raw materials led to a significant increase in production costs, forcing many producers to withdraw from the market, but the group managed to keep the herd and generate solid operating results. Taking into account the positive dynamics of the prices of eggs and egg products observed in the second half of 2021, the management board expects more favorable market conditions at the beginning of 2022,” summarized the president of Ovostar, Borys Bielikov..
