Retailer Penny expects a slight increase in sales due to the imposition of the green certificate in malls. Grocery stores are considered, along with pharmacies, as essential, so the entrance is not conditioned by the green certificate. Exceptions are supermarkets and hypermarkets in malls.
Penny operates on the discount format and has about 300 stores in Romania, and almost all of them are independent units.
Daniel Gross, CEO of Rewe Romania, the company that operates the Penny chain of stores, says that in terms of the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, he has not seen a drop in sales.
