AFI Romania announced during CEDER 2021 that it has managed to obtain the PUZ (planning permission) for its new retail project, located in Arad in the west of Romania.
This project will be the first AFI Europe retail park in Romania, and it will be developed on a six-hectare plot. The project will comprise of “a DYI store, a hypermarket, sports boxes and the traditional retailers for this type of projects.”
Roxana Stanciulescu, Head of Retail Division AFI Europe Romania, confirmed that AFI is “full speed ahead with this project to secure the anchors and hope to start construction by the end of the year.”
The company has another small shopping centre under construction in Bucurestii Noi, in the north of the capital Bucharest, part of the residential project AFI City.
“We have 4,000 sqm already anchored by Mega Image, to be delivered to the tenants in two-three months. It will be a convenience center for our project, but it will attract other clients from the area,” said Stanciulescu.
The entire project is to be delivered this year.
AFI Europe opened its AFI Brasov shopping centre last October, during the pandemic. “It was a real challenge, but we are proud to say that 90% of the stores were open at the inauguration,” Stanciulescu added.
Brasov was the third AFI mall in Romania, after those in Bucharest and Ploiesti.
