T-Mobile Polska had PLN 1.55 billion in revenues, PLN 431 million in EBITDA AL in Q1 2021

T-Mobile Polska recorded PLN 431 million in EBITDA AL in Q1 2021 (increase by 4.1% y / y) and revenues of PLN 1.55 billion (compared to 1, PLN 56 billion in Q1 last year), with an increase in revenues from mobile services by 1.8% y / y, the operator announced. Customer base in Q1 this year increased by 223 thousand. y / y and at the end of March it amounted to 11.205 million.

“The results of the first quarter show an important trend in customer choices: they are increasingly driven not only by price, but also by the quality of service. And quality has always been an area that we have devoted a lot of attention to and in which we have invested. Today, these expenditures pay off in full. the tendency is to look for simple offers that meet the needs of customers in a comprehensive manner. Our convergent offer, built on the basis of the knowledge of customers’ needs and putting their experience in the center of attention, allows us to effectively convince them to choose T-Mobile “- according to CEO of TMobile Poland Andreas Maierhofer.

Maierhofer emphasized that despite the still difficult environment, the company managed to generate an EBITDA increase of 4.1%, in line with the assumptions of the strategy focused on growth throughout the year. “This shows that our market approach is very well adapted to the market and allows us to effectively implement long-term assumptions” – added the CEO of T-Mobile Polska.

At the end of March this year. The number of T-Mobile customers reached 11.2 million, ie 223 thousand more than a year ago. Importantly, the company recorded an increase in the base of users of prepaid and post-paid services, as well as an increase in the number of users of fiber optic lines (FTTH). At the time, the average monthly churn rate for contract clients remained very low at 0.8%.

“The increase in EBITDA AL while maintaining a similar level of revenues is the result of focusing on high-margin services, both in the private and business segment, and the continuous improvement of efficiency. The fact that in such a volatile environment the company not only generates stable operating results, but also maintains the growth rate of ratios. financial, reflects its healthy condition. Our strategy this year sets us very ambitious financial goals. The first quarter shows that we are on the right track to achieve them “- said Juraj Andras, financial management board member of T-Mobile Polska.

According to the company, since the beginning of 2021 the business market is still under the influence of the pandemic, but there is also a noticeable investment boom, related to the adaptation of companies to the new situation. This translated into an increase in demand for cybersecurity products, as well as solutions for trade, which dynamically develops online sales, treating it as an important element of the development strategy. There has also been an increase in demand for cloud solutions, including analytical solutions for e-commerce.

At that time, the operator also obtained new, demanding contracts, including for the construction of a WAN network for the needs of a new national toll collection system commissioned by the Ministry of Finance and Regional Funds and Policy, the provision of mobile services for employees and diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as mobile services. and equipment for the State Sanitary Inspectorates, in order to improve the implementation of tasks related to counteracting COVID-19.

In response to the growing demand for cloud solutions, T-Mobile is developing the hybrid cloud offer and is working on the expansion of the Szlachecka 2 data center, which will allow to increase the capacity in the area of ​​data processing.

The building shell is planned to be closed in the coming weeks. T-Mobile is also consistently expanding its portfolio of cybersecurity products. Anti-DDoS protection for business customers has been enhanced to 200 Gbps to protect customers against the largest cyber threats of this type. has been supplemented with the EMail Protection solution, offering, among others, advanced, multi-layered anti-virus and anti-phishing protection as well as effective spam detection and removal.

In Q1, T-Mobile also focused on the expansion of the 5G network based on the existing frequencies as well as the expansion and modernization of the LTE network. At the beginning of January this year, the 5G network was made available to customers in the Tri-City, thanks to which it has already approx. 6.3 million inhabitants.

As reported, in Q1 the amount of data sent over the 5G network doubled, and compared to Q1 2020, the amount of data sent across the T-Mobile network increased by 32%.

The vast majority of this growth is due to the most popular technology, LTE, and the share of data sent in the 3G network, where less than 4% of data is sent, is consistently declining, according to the company report.

The services of the T-Mobile and Heyah networks are available on nearly 100% of the territory of Poland. The first co-founder and currently the only owner of T-Mobile Polska is the Deutsche Telekom group.
