The food delivery market was worth approx. PLN 9.5 billion in 2020, which means an increase by 42% y / y, according to the 5th edition of the food delivery market report prepared by Stava.
According to estimates prepared at the request of Stava, the entire catering market in 2020 reached the value of almost PLN 21.7 billion, which means a decrease by 15% y / y. On the other hand, the segment of food delivery from premises recorded a sharp increase, which increased by 42% y / y, to the level of PLN 9.48 billion. Poles are still the most likely to order food with delivery by calling restaurants, but the online ordering segment has grown by 67% compared to 2019 and reached PLN 2.26 billion, it said.
“In addition to the significant increase in the overall market, we also saw many other changes. First, the average value of the invoice for delivery increased quite significantly – by as much as 10.1% year-on-year. The way we pay for food with delivery has also changed. Last year, for the first time since we were preparing reports on the food delivery market, the share of cash payments in the entire “cake” of payments fell below 40% and amounted to 32.17% “- said Paweł Aksamit, president of Stava.
22.25% of consumers decided to pay cash on delivery, and 53.45% of consumers paid online.
The times at which Poles order food have also changed. The daily peak of orders significantly lengthened – it started around noon and lasted until 8 pm.
