Entrepreneurs affected in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and related government measures today have the last chance to apply for a contribution to commercial rent for the fourth quarter of last year. The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT), which prepared it, will end the receipt of applications for the third call of the COVID program at 11:59 p.m. Applicants for the subsidy could submit applications from 5 February.
All operations that in connection with anti-epidemic measures recorded a year-on-year decline in sales of at least 50 percent in the last quarter of last year can apply for a subsidy from the third call of the COVID program. So it’s not just about closed businesses. Unlike previous calls, the so-called affinity of persons, close persons, persons controlling and controlled, concerted practices, significant influence or the consolidation unit are no longer an obstacle in submitting an application. However, the tenant and the landlord must not be the same person.
One entrepreneur can apply for support of a maximum of ten million crowns for all his establishments. The assistance from the individual calls of the program does not add up. However, it is covered by the so-called temporary framework set by the European Commission. This is the maximum amount that one applicant can receive from public support. The limit is 1.8 million euros (about 47 million CZK). The temporary framework includes the COVID gastro programs of closed establishments, COVID accommodation or COVID spas.
As of March 15, the Ministry of Industry and Trade registered 40,836 applications for the program for approximately 3.4 billion crowns. The government has approved three billion crowns in aid, but the ministry can increase funding if necessary.
In the next period affected by the coronavirus crisis, two main compensation programs will be available to entrepreneurs with a decline of at least 50 percent. Under the grant title COVID 2021, they will be able to receive a contribution of 500 crowns per employee per day for the period from 11 January to 31 March. Applications for this program will begin on Monday. An alternative aid will be COVID Uncovered Costs, in which it will cost entrepreneurs 60 percent of the costs for the period from 1 January to 31 March. It will be possible to apply for this subsidy from 19 April.
