Revenues at Czech fitness centers are just half of what they were in 2019, with 60 percent of them reporting that their expenses are just as high as they were last year. Over 20 percent of the country’s fitness centers claim their expenses have gone up this year by more than 10 percent, while 11 percent say their expenses are more than 20 percent higher. Those are the conclusions of the Czech Chamber of Fitness Club, which published the results of a survey of its nearly 700 of its members. The current regulations governing fitness clubs are hurting 40 percent of all clubs, with the most problematic issue being rules that govern how close personal trainers can get to their clients. It’s unclear, however, whether removing social distancing requirements would make clients feel more comfortable about working on. At the moment, face masks haven’t been required in fitness centers for months, but the chamber warns that plans to bring them back could be fatal for many clubs. In all, the chamber wrote, there are around 1,200 fitness centers operating in the Czech Republic.
