With the number of cases of coronavirus on the rise again, Prague is again tightening its restrictions in an effort to keep the public safe. As of Wednesday, shoppers will have to wear masks in stores and shopping centers. The city’s chief hygienist Zdeňka Jágrová says that bars and clubs will have to close between midnight and 6 a.m. She also said that Prague residents should get used to wearing masks in stores and public buildings because the requirement was likely to last for some time. “I definitely don’t want for there to be some stricter measures that would limit the lives of Prague residents in more,” she said. “Unfortunately, I think that we’ll be living with masks in shops for a long time. As for the opening times for bars, only when the situation calms down and the number of new cases in the age group that uses them falls can we begin talking about a potential loosening of restrictions.” There were 563 new cases of Covid-19 discovered on Monday, while the number of hospitalized people is now 214, double the amount from a month ago.
