Vapiano restaurants could open by August

12 June 2020

The restaurant chain Vapiano declared bankruptcy in March, but this has led to its takeover by an investment consortium that reportedly wants to re-open 30 of the restaurants by August. Delf Neumann, acting as managing director, says the group will continue to work with the company’s existing franchise partners, who run another 25 outlets around the country. The well-known restaurateur Mario Bauer, a former Vapiano board member, said he was convinced that the brand would make a comeback. It’s a remarkably quick return to life for the company, whose bankruptcy administrator put it up for sale at the end of April. What’s unclear at this point is how many restaurants will continue to trade under the Vapiano name abroad. Bauer said it could be up to 160 locations but warned that the range of potential fluctuation was extremely high.
