Fitness centers reopen in Slovakia as restrictions lifted further

3 June 2020

The Slovak government is allowing fitness centers, massage studios and swimming pools to reopen as of June 3 in a further sign that the first chapter of the coronavirus crisis is fading into the past. Restaurants will no longer be required to seat guests in pairs, though they are still expected to place tables no closer than two meters from each other. In stores, the number of square meters per customer has been reduced from 15 sqm to just 10 sqm, however masks must still be worn inside. Outside, masks will no longer be required except in cases when people are standing closer than 2 meters from each other. While the legal restrictions are being softened, it’s unclear whether the changes have come in time for these sectors. The daily Pravda reports that half of the fitness centers in the country haven’t filed their taxes for last year and there are suspicions that many have already given up and will remain closed.
