The Hradec Králové hospital is trying to buy a piece of land from the city of Hradec Králové on which to build an infectious diseases clinic, but the city’s price is more than the law allows for such a trade. The Ministry of Finance has had to get involved by studying whether it can issue an exception in this case. In fact, the two sides simply want to trade land plots, but their methodology for valuing the land is different. The city would have to pay several million koruna more to the hospital under current rules, which it’s unprepared to do. The Ministry of Finance will be listening to the two sides this week to decide whether an exception can be issued on the basis of the deal being in the public interest. The new clinic is to be built on the site where a Chinese medicine clinic was originally planned. The price for the land is roughly CZK 600m.
