Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte says the current package of emergency measures to support entrepreneurs, which should expire on June 1, will be extended by three months. The government is investing another €13bn to continue this support. Another €10bn will go to extending the scheme to help employers hold on to their employees for the next three months, while €1bn will to towards helping small and medium-sized enterprises that have lost at least 30 percent of their turnover.
The coronavirus crisis has had an extremely negative impact on the Dutch economy. Rutte said that unemployment figures are especially dramatic, prompting the government to increase the level of support it’s providing to these companies.
