Insolvent vegan restaurant chain Vegg-go plans comeback

17 April 2020

Simple Food, the Czech-based company that operates the Vegg-go chain of vegan restaurants, has entered insolvency according to the daily E15. It cites the company’s majority shareholder owner Zdeněk Jahoda as blaming the government’s restrictive measures to fight the coronavirus pandemic as contributing to the company’s demise. Jahoda owns 75 percent of Simple Foods, while the remainder belongs to the owner of Emco, Jan Hanuš. Simple Foods operated eight restaurants with 80 employees, had debts of CZK 125m. Jahoda said that one of the partners was planning to continue operating the chain once shopping malls are able to open again. “In March, the copyright for Vegg-go was transferred to one of the partners,” he said. “Once the situation returns to normal, he would like to continue the operation of some of the outlets.”
