Consumer prices in Hungary increased by 3.9 percent y-o-y in March, according to data recently published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH). Customer prices between January and March were 4.3 percent higher than the same period a year earlier. Prices for food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco all increased last month, due in part because of coronavirus panic buying, KSH suggests. Food prices increased by 7.6 percent over the last 12 months, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased on average by 7.2 percent. Services went up 3.8 percent. Fuel prices, meanwhile, decreased in March as a result of falling oil prices.
