Restaurants in the Czech Republic are closed for normal business, but the governmental decree allows for food to be served via windows. This has led numerous restaurants around the country to set up makeshift windows through which they pass food in return for payment. Others are stepping up their delivery operations so as not to lose all of their usual cash flow. The Nova television news program spoke with Bageterie Boulevard’s director of operations Jiří Štěpánek whose company was adapting its stores to the new rules. “On Saturday we created temporary hand-out windows that make it possible to offer at least take-out food,” he said, adding that a normal take-out set up would be in place by Monday and that it would soon begin offering home delivery.
The restaurant company Ambiente is having to improvise and ask its staff to be flexible. “Since we currently have a lot of waiters without work, we’re linking them with delivery services that are understaffed at the moment,” said the company. The food delivery company Dáme Jídlo has indicated that its services are continuing unchanged and that it was prepared to offer further capacity for further stores.
