Eximbank has established a HUF 10bn fund to support small and medium-sized companies on the US export market. The Columbus fund was opened with HUF 7bn of the bank’s own resources, while the remaining HUF 3bn came from private sources. The funding has been earmarked for companies involved in infocommunications, health technology and agricultural innovation. The US is Hungary’s main export market outside the EU. Peter Szijjarto, the Hungarian minister for foreign affairs and trade, said Hungary has “outstanding economic growth” and is now among 35 countries to have exported more than €100 billion each year. Last year, Hungary exported $3.5bn worth of goods to the Us, up 11 percent y-o-y.
