Lagardere wins duty free operations at Prague airport

26 June 2019

Lagardere Travel Retail has won the right to operate the 24 duty free shops at the Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague for ten years by offering to pay CZK 8bn. It’s believed the Paris-based company won a tender held by the airport, though the losers of the tender could still protest the result. There’s 4,400 sqm of space available for stores. Assuming the deal goes through Lagardere will take over the space on January 1, 2020 and then begin with reconstruction work that’s due for completion by June 30, 2020. Among the other bidders were Dufry and Heinemann. In addition to the offered rent, bids were judged on the basis of the quality of service offered. Largardere is said to have offered staff with excellent language skills, especially in Asian languages.
