Expansion still planned for Prague The Style Outlets

In a downbeat article about Prague The Style Outlets, Denik.cz reports that business is not exactly booming at Prague’s new outlet mall. It describes the mall’s parking lot as nearly empty on weekedays, and that there’s rarely more than one customer in a store at one time. “Sometimes it happens that we have no money in the register for the day,” Denik.cz quotes a sales clerk from one of the stores. “Several times a day my phone buzzes with a text from the owner asking if I’ve sold anything. He’s thinking about reducing prices the way several other stores have. But I don’t think that’s the answer, the prices here are outlet prices. We don’t need discounts but mainly for people to come here.”

Prague The Style Outlets in opened in May after years of delays after the project was taken over by the investor Kaprain, which teamed up with Neinver on its completion. Denik.cz points out that the mall’s management would be taken over from Neinver by a new team. Kaprain’s spokesman said that a new marketing strategy is being worked out and that an expansion of the existing mall is still planned, as is the construction of an amusement park and a hotel.
