The escalators leading from the náměstí Republiky metro stop on the náměstí Republiky side of the station have reopened after the completion of nine months of reconstruction. The work included reconstruction of the vestibule underneath the square that offers direct access to the Palladium shopping center. The investment is part of an ongoing reconstruction of old escalators that provide access to Prague’s metro system. Next on the list of repairs is at Karlovo náměstí of the escalators that lead to the square. The escalators at the Anděl metro station leading up to the Nový Smíchov shopping center were completed earlier this year but will contine in 2019 on the station’s second entrance. In 2020, the city intends to repair the second entrance to náměstí Republiky, while reconstruction is also planned for the Opatov and Flora metro stations.
